What is Kontra Daya?
Kontra Daya is a broad campaign of various organizations and individuals- religious, artists, youth and students, lawyers, IT experts, teachers, government employees and ordinary Filipinos- who commit themselves to oppose election fraud and other undemocratic practices during the election period.
Our Role
-
Unite and mobilize forces opposed to electoral fraud.
-
Help educate the people about the vulnerabilities of the automated elections and prepare them for action in the event of massive fraud or failure of elections.
-
Expose and fight corruption, political repression and other abuses during the election period.
-
Engage the COMELEC and other relevant agencies on major policies related to the elections.
-
Actively monitor and report on the conduct of the May 9 elections.
Our Principles
Kontra Daya (Against Fraud) firmly believes that the conduct of clean and honest election is not an exclusive concern of government nor of politicians vying for elective positions. The people must participate in guarding against electoral fraud as well as in debates on future policy directions for the country and the people’s welfare. Among its members are Promotion of Church Peoples Response, Computer Professionals Union, AGHAM, Alliance of Concerned Teachers, Health Alliance for Democracy, Health Action for Human Rights, Kawani Kontra Daya and Blogwatch.ph.
